2 weeks to find a new venue for a 100-person conference…

February 2019

I had final plans coming together for a 100 person women’s retreat to the coast of North Carolina when I got the word that, despite best efforts, the resort’s permits would not be cleared in time for my event. Hurricane Matthew devastated a lot of North Carolina’s coast in the fall, and reconstruction was slower than anticipated.

With two weeks to go, I had to find a new location to house 100 women, work with me on my budget, and have appropriate facilities available for all the components of the retreat we had planned and advertised.

The event preparation consisted of:

  • creating and editing programs
  • creating and purchasing retreat favors (tote bags, journals, pens)
  • getting flowers and decor for our space
  • preparing supplies for breakout sessions
  • having having name tags, schedules, and group assignments prepared
  • organizing rides and lodging assignments
  • making boxed breakfasts for each guest to be delivered with a personalized note to their room
  • and, of course, working with the venue for all things lodging and event needs

The event was executed beautifully and many women commented they’d want the same experience in the future.
